Sound Quality

I played a gig at Universal Bar & Grill last night. There was a jazz band playing a set before I was scheduled and they were really good. They stuck around to listen to me perform. After my first song, the bass player, Benj, asked if he could adjust the sound a bit. I said, “Sure”. He said my vocals sounded muffled.

He moved some knobs, checked the levels in the room a few times and within a minute or so he had the sound adjusted and it was great. It was the best sound I’ve had since I’ve been playing there and it really made a difference. There were so many things I could do vocally and on the guitar with the PA that weren’t happening before he did that.

After the set, I wrote out a little map for myself so I’ll know how to get the same sound set up for when I play the room again. Benj showed me where the levels were and what he did so I’ll be able to get better sound in other places, too. His friend said that once Benj got the sound right, he really enjoyed my music and what I was doing.

Blessings!
