Water

I don’t notice how much water I drink until I’m fasting for Yom Kippur and not drinking any. Then my throat is telling me that it likes what it’s used to. After 2 hours, I was thirsty. Now I am working on keeping saliva in my mouth so I can swallow it. Too much information? Sorry.

Being a singer, I’m used to drinking a lot of fluids to keep my throat moist for my voice. For God, I’m willing to forego what I’m used to. I guess the little things I’m used to become bigger to me when they suddenly aren’t there. It’s important for me to remember this so I can stay in gratitude in my life for what I have.

My friend, Kandi, says that staying in an attitude of gratitude is what keeps her on track. It makes sense. If I nurture something it will thrive. If I neglect it then it will die. I’m neglecting “problems” in my life so they will, metaphorically speaking, “die”. I would rather focus on what I enjoy having in my life so I can have more of that.

Blessings!
Laura
