Rain

It’s been raining here in LA. I like the rain. It’s peaceful to me. I’m not talking about major storms, I’m talking about the kind of rains that clear the air and wash away the dirt on my car that I haven’t had time to worry about. The sound of rain is relaxing to me. It’s easy to stay home and rest when it’s raining outside. It reminds me of being with family.

My fascination with rain started when I was a kid. My Dad used to like watching rain storms and we would go out onto the front porch to watch the clouds and the rain fall. Lightning storms were cool, too. In the Midwest there were a lot of thunderstorms with lightning. We used to count how long it’d take after we saw lighting to hear thunder.

When I was a little older, my Dad and I used to fly airplanes together. Flying through rain showers and cloud layers was like being on another planet. It put me in another dimension and put me in a more alert state. It’s more relaxing to be on the ground in a rain storm than it is to be flying an airplane. A lot can happen in the air.
