This Too Shall Pass

Things do change over time. I remember a friend of mine once told me that I shouldn’t be too concerned about what I believe in today because that could change. It confused me because I thought I would always believe in what I thought was true, right and correct. My moral fiber depended on it, so I thought. Now I don’t know what I believe today.

It’s hard for me to differentiate fact in my perception. My recollection and experience of something can be completely different from someone experiencing the exact same thing. And usually the circumstance of a situation is fleeting and evolving, so I can’t hang onto anything in particular. I do find when I feel comfortable I think everything is “right”.

I do my best not to think too much these days because even if I do understand something for a moment, that moment will pass as soon as I understand it and something else will show up that is beyond my understanding yet again. I heard someone say that the secret to happiness is not minding whatever happens in life. It won’t last anyway, so why mind?
