The Simple Solution

The power went out for a moment and after that my DSL line wouldn’t connect. I remember when I lived in Boulder, CO, I had a mentor who helped me with my music. His name is Ward. He moved a few times and then I left town, so we haven’t been in touch for a number of years. He taught me some valuable lessons.

His first choice to address a problem with gear was to turn something off and re-start it. His second choice was to change chords. To him the simple solution was the best place to start. When my computer isn’t working right, I usually turn it off and re-start it. A lot of people I know use that approach. It reminds me of what Ward taught me.

When I keep my approach simple I seem to do better. Then I can ask myself simple questions to stay on track. “Am I being helpful?” is a good question for me to consider. Usually if I’m being helpful I’m on track. Then I’m a part of making something work well. That not only feels good, it allows me to accomplish more.

Blessings!
Laura
