Vocal Editing

Robert Eibach and I were back in the studio working on lead vocals for a couple of songs. Getting the vocal right is such a meticulous process. Everything is very exact on the computer. It’s a great luxury having technology to use today. I had made a comment about that with Robert and he told me about a recent tape project he had to splice to edit.

I guess when someone is producing records they have to be able to do just about anything. I don’t ask a lot of questions about what Robert is doing when he’s working on tracks. As long as he knows how to use the gear we’re in good shape. I’m glad I don’t have to learn much about the stuff Robert knows how to do. Being an artist is enough.

We’re both going out of town to see our families for Thanksgiving, so we won’t meet up back in the studio until after the holiday. It will be nice to get out of town for a short vacation. Even though I love living in LA and what I do here, I’m ready for a break. A change of scenery, climate and routine will be a good thing for a few days.
