I’ve always loved the piano. There’s something magical about the sound. When I was younger I took piano lessons. My teacher yelled at me and that was the end of my interest in playing it. After I picked up guitar I knew I had found the instrument for me. I totally love being on strings. A guitar is also easier to carry around.

When ever I listen to a song on keys, it just seems more stunning for some reason. Maybe because I’m used to playing guitar it doesn’t impress me the way piano does. When I was rehearsing with Bill McRae for our gig at CAP it was the first time I sang some of my tunes with just piano accompanying me. It was fun.

The sound of my chord progressions seemed more dynamic to me. Maybe it was the way Bill played them. He knows my material pretty well. It was really fresh to sing that way. Even though we were playing my songs they seemed like something else to me and that brought me to a different place vocally. I’m excited to do the gig.
