Love Language
A friend of mine called me today. She’s dealing with relationship issues that are confusing at times and challenging her quite a bit. It’s amazing to see her courage and to talk with her about the situation. When it comes to matters of the heart there isn’t much that surprises me anymore.
It reminded me of a conversation that I had the other day with a very wise girl. The subject of love came up and she said that people have different love languages. Some people feel loved when someone says the “right” thing. Others feel loved when someone buys them things. Others need to be touched to feel loved.
She said that people will tend to express love to others the way the need love expressed to them. So if someone shows love with verbal communication chances are if they receive that back they will feel loved. If they don’t, they may not appreciate someone loving them in a “different language”. That’s a new spin on having a language barrier.
