Babies

I was holding a baby today for a bit while her mom was doing something. I haven’t held a little baby in a long time. What I noticed right away was how pure the baby’s energy was. She was a docile little girl and even had really cute earrings that she was wearing. I was proud of her mom for starting her out right as a bling bling kind of girl.

It was fun to show her things and tell her what they were called. She hasn’t started talking yet, but I could tell that she was taking it all in and enjoyed seeing all the new things. I wonder what it would be like to have that kind of newness in how I experience the world. I don’t know what difference it would make but it would be cool to have language for it.

I don’t know if I’ll ever be a mom other than to the little animals I take care of. My friend told me once that we can honor the women who have children and give them support since we’re not the ones with the screaming children in the back seats of our cars throwing Cheerios. I thought that was a great visual.
