Showing Up

At different times in my life I’ve heard people say that 80%-90% of success is achieved by showing up. That goes right along with my favorite statistic that 99.5% of all airplane crashes occur with the ground. Not many mid-air collisions happen. To me it isn’t just showing up somewhere that attributes to success. How I show up is the key.

When I show up with an open heart to be supportive of other people all kinds of things start happening that are so interesting. It’s good for me to keep a clear intention of what my goals are when I go about my day, but I don’t try to second guess what outcome I’m going to get because I went somewhere. When I’m not focused on me, I see more.

There’s an advantage for me in being a witness in life. I can see cause and effect and affect more clearly. I can hone in on how people are directing their energy and how that works. It’s easier for me to make decisions and be comfortable when my approach is more receptive than assertive. I think that is a more natural state for me being a woman.
