Universal Bar & Grill

I got an email tonight to play at Universal Bar & Grill in North Hollywood at 9p. I’m excited. I really dig playing there. The room is nice, the people are so friendly, and the french fries rock. My oven broke yesterday, so I haven’t been able to cook anything today. I’m glad that french fries are now on my evening’s agenda.

The other thing I love about playing at Universal Bar & Grill is it’s a good room to try things out in. There are songs I’ve written that I don’t play with my band. If the keyboard player and I were able to rehearse more and work out new material then we’d have more songs for CAP. So my solo gigs are my time to stretch out differently.

It also makes me smile anytime I get up as a solo singer/songwriter after a heavy metal rock band has played. The contrast is amazing. There are a lot of singer/songwriters that play at UBG as well and it is fun to see everyone play their own style of music. Music is such a magical force when it comes through an artist. I love to see that is action.
