The Dirty Royals

I was at The Gig on Melrose in LA to see The Dirty Royals. They’re a very fun punk/pop band from the UK. Well not the drummer that played with them tonight, he’s from LA. It was lots of fun to see them perform. They are a high energy band, do beautiful 3 part harmonies, jump around a lot and have a great time playing their music.

When I first encountered them, they were called the Samurai Seven. They were playing at Universal Bar & Grill the same night I played. Only 3 of the 7 were in town. I met their manager and ever since he’s been getting my weekly newsletters. The “newsletters” are actually just emails with a fairly consistent format. Newsletter sounds cool I guess.

The Gig has an awesome lighting set up with smoke and everything. They have a black curtain around the stage that gets raised when a band starts to play. I like the effect. It gives the show a more theatrical vibe. I like dramatics in performances more so than in real life. Drama queens on stage are entertaining. In life they are draining.

Blessings!
Laura
