Conversations

It’s fun to talk about things with people. I especially like philosophical discussions. That may come from my political science background in school or I may just be wired that way. I love sharing ideas with people and hearing how they perceive the world. I think when I try to understand how someone defines what they’re doing I learn a lot.

Mostly I learn where their priorities are and what drives them in their motivation. I can hear very quickly if they’re open to shifting how they use language to say the same thing. What’s interesting about doing that is the effect energy has in words that are chosen. I find that certain words carry a more uplifting charge and others are a downer for me.

As I experiment with re-phrasing what I talk about I’ve noticed that open ideas seem to be gentle for me rather than how hard cut and dry sounding things are. I’m not here to judge and I believe that there is a place for gentle and hard. It’s helpful for me to know how to use strong language when I need it in a situation. And I like the gentle stuff a lot.
