The Devil Wears Prada

I was at Creative Screenwriting Magazine’s screening of The Devil Wears Prada over at Fox Studios. It was followed by a Q&A with screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna. I love Creative Screenwriting Magazine’s screenings because of the Q&A after the film. I learn so much listening to writers talk about how things came together behind the scenes.

I didn’t read the book, but I had seen previews of this film and knew I would love it. Anything I’ve ever seen Meryl Streep in has been wonderful and her role in this film is precious. I’ve been taking some acting classes and I can really appreciate how good she is at playing just about any character someone can write. It’s mind boggling.

Aline’s discussion about the script and the characters also shed some light into what the story was intended to capture. And to me, they did a great job of accomplishing their goal. I also loved the artistic direction, the make-up and wardrobe used throughout the film. For any girl who loves fashion this is a must see film, just for the shopping ideas.
