2 Songs

Before my Universal Bar & Grill gig, I met with record producer, Mandi Martin. Aside from being incredibly talented as a producer, she also holds the Guiness Book of World Records for the most number of hours playing pinball. And she did it three times. She and I met when my percussionist, Voyce invited me to hear him play a gig over a year ago.

Mandi and Peter Barker produced Amy Kuney’s CD. Voyce was playing a show with Amy over at Kulak’s Woodshed. He told me to stop by so we could meet before we set up a rehearsal for our first show together. Mandi was there with a lot of amazing people. I, of course, had no idea who she was or what her resume looked like. She was just cool.

Mandi and I are going to record my songs, “Wakantanka” and “I Am” in the studio together. I wrote a press release about adding the Muslim name for God, Allah, in my song, “Wakantanka” in response to anti-Semitic and anti-Israel politics. The release also mentioned that I was planning to record the song to be released this summer. Good plan.

Blessings!
Laura
