In Tiny Steps
It seems that my life is made up of a lot of little tiny insignificant moments that seem to add up. I don’t know what they add up to, but when I realize who I am because I’ve taken a lot of really tiny steps every day for a long period of time I do seem to have gotten somewhere . And that’s where the illusion kicks in. The only place I ever am is here.
Even when I think I’m moving around, going places, I’m still on the same planet everyday. I’m still in this body and I’m still walking around breathing air like everyone else who lives here. My little tiny steps of writing this blog everyday, sending out my email newsletter once a week and showing up to play gigs connects me to people.
And while in the grand scheme of my dream of making a living being an artist seems far off in the distance, I will say that the relationships I have in my life today as a result of my putting forth the effort it takes to write and show up at gigs has brought me incredibly precious moments with the most amazing people I could have ever hoped to know.

Years ago, I saw an episode of All Creatures Great And Small that happened to be titled Bigs Steps And Little Steps.
Reading your most recent blog made me think of that episode. Sometimes you take little steps and then you take a big one, and then you get knocked back, and you take a little step and then a big one, and a few littles ones, but eventually you will reach a point to where you think am I making any progress here am going anywhere, but when you stop and take a look back, you'll find you've made a great deal of progress along the way, even though most of your journey seemed to be made up of little steps.
At the end of this lifes journey what will matter most are the lives you've touched along the way, and the way they've touched you. We make more progress with each new hour in our lives than we realize sometimes.
The bumps, and cracks in the road of life are sometimes hard to walk. Persevere and stay strong, and one day there will be a light at the end of the tunnel.
