Being Good To People

There’s a guy who works at the butcher counter at Whole Foods who is an artist and a pretty spiritual person. Today he pointed something out to me that I hadn’t really given much thought to until he mentioned it. I think that’s why I like talking to people. I get to learn so much from listening to other people’s understanding of the world.

He said there is a difference between someone who is nice and someone who is good to people. He said that a lot of people act nice, but they aren’t really good to people. Then he said that there are people who are kind of abrupt or harsh in how they come across, but they do good things for people. He said being good to people is what’s important.

When he said that, I thought of one person I know that always says nice things, but his actions aren’t usually kind at all. If he didn’t say a word and I were to just look his actions, I would say he doesn’t care about anyone in the world at all, not even himself. Caring about others comes from a deep love inside. Some people don’t ever go there.

Blessings!
