I was talking to a guy who had a big shiner on his eye. He was kind of embarrassed about it but he told me how it happened. Apparently he had a room-mate who was kind of a problem and had a bad temper. The room-mate came home, drunk or on drugs or something, and picked a fight with this guy. The guy just let the room-mate hit him.

Because this guy didn’t fight back or do anything to hurt the room-mate, the room-mate went to jail and got evicted. The guy told me that if he had hit the room-mate then he would have also wound up in prison. That was news to me, but I guess this guy has gotten into fights and went to prison before. I didn’t ask him a lot of questions.

Sometimes I just listen to people tell me things because there’s usually a piece of information they’re giving me that I need to hear for some reason. The guy told me that he needs to stay away from people like that. That sounded like a good idea. I know for me I find I have an easier time when I’m around people who are happy and nice.
