Mounted Police in NoHo

I was driving to a party at Higher Ground, a new organic juice bar/raw food restaurant in North Hollywood, www.highergroundnoho.com, and saw 2 police officers on horseback. I hadn’t seen mounted police since I lived in Chicago. It brought back memories. If the city brings in horse drawn carriage rides, I’ll know that my roots are following me.

There must be advantages to patrolling on horseback rather than on foot. Being on a horse certainly puts a person on a higher level than just walking on a sidewalk. And a horse can run a lot faster than a person. The horses seemed pretty happy and I was impressed with how poised they were with traffic on the road next to them.

It’s probably a lot nicer to be a horse on patrol in Southern California than in Chicago. The winters in Chicago can be brutal. The humidity makes the cold bone chilling and the wind is harsh. I wasn’t a fan of the windy city in the winter because there was hardly ever any sunshine or blue skies for months. I like the blue skies and sunshine in California.

Blessings!
Laura
