Sweetening

I was back in the studio with my producer, Robert Eibach, working on “Wakantanka”. It was good to be in a creative mode in the midst of grieving the loss of my rats. It helped me relax more to be in a place where I feel magic all around. There’s something very calming for me about working with Robert. I don’t know what that is, it’s just how it is.

It was amazing to watch Robert work on sweetening tracks. He spent quite a bit of time on the lead vocal. I’ll be recording harmonies next week, so Robert wanted me to have a more polished lead track to practice with. What was nice to hear was how smooth the vocal sounded as he worked. Compared to the raw vocal track, sweetening made it sweet.

When Robert and I started this project, I had never spent the kind of time working on recording my songs that we’re doing for this CD. Going through this process is teaching me a lot. I find myself just getting my bearings with each step along the way. There are so many things I didn’t know about that go in to making a real record like the stars do.

Blessings!
Laura
