Rest In Peace Little Girls

Today I took my little rats, Carole and Nicole, to the vet to be put to sleep. I wrote about their condition in my last 2 blogs, “Saying Good-Bye” and “Part Of Life”. I cut my day short so I could spend some time with them before taking them to the appointment. I felt bad that I wasn’t spending the whole day with them but I couldn’t cancel some things.

When I got home, they were sleeping together. I started crying almost immediately and realized that if I had been home with them the whole day I would have just cried the entire time. I don’t think that would have been the best for them. I gave Carole her favorite treats to eat, (Nicole had stopped eating), talked to them a lot, gave them both lots of love and cried.

I brought a towel with me to the vet to wrap them in afterwards. Putting my little babies to sleep was the saddest thing I’ve ever been through. I cried so much. The vet was wonderful. He got a box for me and brought me a rose made out of green and pink gauze to put on their grave when I buried them. I was sad when I came home. I still am.
