New Song

I wrote a song tonight before I left for my gig at Universal Bar & Grill. When I performed at Room 5, I saw a really cool chord progression I liked that a songwriter used and started playing around with it when I was warming up for my show. I’ve been trying to change some of my old ideas about what I thought my life was supposed to be so it was nice to write a song about that.

Well the song is not directly about that, but it was the source of the emotion, trying to change how I do things, that drove the lyric. I save a lot of money when I’m writing songs because otherwise I would need a lot of therapy. Being able to sing them and record them also gives me a release for the energy so it’s not all bottled up inside.

If you ever feel the need to get something out of your system, the creative arts are a good vehicle for that. You don’t have to share what you do with anyone, unless you get motivated for it. I don’t think that self expression needs to be judged when it’s giving voice to the heart and air to the soul.
