The Farmer

There’s a story about a farmer on the side of a road tending his crop. A gentleman walking down the road stops and asks the farmer what the people are like in the next town that he’s headed toward. The farmer asks the man what the people were like in the town he just left. The man tells the farmer they were rude.

The farmer tells him that the people in the next town are just like the people in the town he just left. Another man comes by later on in the day heading toward the same town as the last man and asks the farmer the same question. The farmer asks the man what the people were like in the last town he was at. The man tells the farmer they were wonderful.

The farmer tells the man that’s how the people are in the next town. How I perceive myself and other people in the world has a lot to do with how I show up in my attitudes. My guess is that the gentleman who found that people were wonderful, were wonderful to people. I know that when I'm wonderful to people I find them to be wonderful.
