Listening
Until I walk in someone’s shoes, I don’t know what it’s like for them, what they’re thinking or why. Listening helps me get some bearings as to what is going on. When someone is acting like an expert on someone else, they’re usually giving me an autobiography about themselves. They only think they’re talking about the other person.
I know that when I listen with an open heart, without judgment, I can find a way to be kind and supportive of what another person needs to do. I also have to ability to show up with the right thing in a situation because I’m focused on what is needed rather than on what I might fantasize other people are doing. Listening teaches me a lot.
Blessings!
