Happy Birthday, Martin Luther King, Jr.

Celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday reminds me to dream, to hold on to my ideals, (even when they don’t seem likely to be realized), and to talk about what’s on my mind. He was a man who inspired a nation and disturbed people’s status quo. Sometimes that’s a good thing. Sometimes people need to be disturbed.

I don’t mean that in a malicious way. Sometimes when people are busy in destructive behavior, they don’t want to know they could do things differently, especially if what they’re doing is satisfying their ego. I think one of the biggest fears people deal with is the fear of being wrong. That’s just my opinion, so you don’t have to agree with me.

I’ve just seen a difference in my life when I gave up the need to be right about anything. Being wrong isn’t a big deal to me. "Wrong" can come very naturally to me. I can be wrong without even thinking about it. I can be so off the mark and not even know it. I tend to do better when I listen to people rather than showing up focused on what I want to happen.

Blessings!
Laura
