St. Patrick's Day

When I went into Whole Foods it took a minute to realize why the people who worked there were all wearing bizarre green hats, shamrock antennae, and different kinds of green shirts. It looked very Halloween until I remembered it was St. Patrick’s Day. I did put on a dark green jacket this morning and I’m not even Irish.

When I lived in Chicago, the river was dyed green on St. Patrick’s Day and a lot of the bars served green beer. It was a big party then. It probably still is but I’m just not around it anymore. I do remember one year I put green mascara with glitter on my eye lashes. Guys that were drunk really tripped out on that. It was funny.

Wednesday night some friends of mine were eating shamrock shaped sugar cookies with green sugar on top. I went for the strawberry whipped cream cake. I’m not big on food coloring even though it can make desserts look really pretty. I love how for every holiday all kinds of things show up in stores that help make the celebration more festive.
