Getting The Lesson

I’ve known for awhile that what I say and think has an effect on my life and situations I’m in with other people. Many spiritual, self-help motivators have parroted versions of “change your thoughts, change your life”. So when I find myself having not-so-great thoughts I have to find a way to stop myself in my tracks and shift mental gears.

Well the past couple of days it seems that I've found a new way to stop very quickly. I have cut two of my fingers,(while I was slicing vegetables), when my mind wasn’t being gracious or kind in its behavior. It wasn't my intention. The lesson that was clear to me…I’m hurting myself when I think that way. It’s a good thing that butterfly bandages were invented. I’ve needed them and used them.

The first cut was really bad; this second one is more minor, but still needed the butterfly. So as I look at my fingers I can laugh at myself and realize that in all my knowing about what to do, doing it is still a practice that I need to be working on, daily. I can also be grateful for a couple of cuts instead of something worse.

Blessings!
