MusiCares/MAP Fund Honoring James Hetfield & Bill Silva

I went to volunteer for the MusiCares/MAP Fund Benefit honoring James Hetfield of Metallica and music promoter Bill Silva at the Music Box Fonda Theater. MusiCares helps musicians with drug and alcohol addiction problems. MAP Fund gives emergency financial aid to musicians and they respond really fast if you need help.

It was true bliss listening to the artists that played on stage. I’m in awe of musicians and adore watching guitar players do their thing in particular. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club opened the show, and Velvet Revolver played Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” dedicated to all the artists that died from alcohol and drug abuse. I love that song.

Tom Waits and Jason Mraz both played and the highlight for me was when Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell and Sean Kinney joined Metallica’s James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo for some classics. Comedian Greg Behrendt, author of “he’s just not that into you”, was the MC and did a fine job. It was a heartfelt night of celebration and respect.

Blessings!
Laura
