Himalayan Salt Lamps

A friend of mine gave me a Himalayan Salt Lamp tonight. This one is heart shaped and has a place to put one of those candle votives with a metal base. I’d never heard of salt lamps before, but these things are way cool. They’re made from salt crystal rocks from the foothills of the Himalayas. Colors range from off-white to apricot and warm pink.

As the salt rock heats up, healthful negative ions lift off from the surface and help to cleanse and improve the quality and freshness of the air. I put a votive in when I got home to check it out. It looks really pretty with the light inside of it. I’m curious to see if I’ll sleep better at night or if I’ll have more energy from using it.

Negative ions are electrically-charged particles that remove airborne contaminants and have a rejuvenating effect when interacting with the physiological systems in the human body, such as the respiratory system. Maybe it will improve my singing. Regardless of what it does, it makes me happy because it’s a gift from my friend and it looks pretty.
