Not Much Sleep

I was up until 4am last night working on my grant request after I got home from the recording studio. Robert Eibach, my producer, gave me a rough mix of my song on CD so I could send it in with my proposal. I’m not use to functioning on 4 ½ hours of sleep. I do my best to get at least 6, but sometimes I just have stuff to do.

I’m a night owl by nature. My favorite hours of the day are 10pm-2am. There’s a peaceful energy at night when people aren’t going to be calling on the phone for anything and most people are sleeping. Even if I’m tired in the early evening something kicks in at night and I’m going strong by 10. I’ve tried to get to bed early and I just get up and work.

When I was reading books about Jewish mysticism I came across some writings that said midnight was the time when King David and the rabbis would get up to pray. That was the hour when God entered the Garden of Eden. I also found writings that said 4am-6am was the best time to meditate. I think every time of day is sacred if we treat it that way.

Blessings!
Laura
