Grant Proposal

I’m working on a composer’s grant proposal to help pay for packaging, photography, CD manufacturing and PR costs for my single release of “Wankantanka”. What’s great about writing a grant proposal is that I now have to answer a number of questions and put everything in writing that I’m going to do for this song when it’s ready to be marketed.

There’s something about getting it down on paper, or in a word processor, that makes it more real. It’s like a declaration and a commitment to get something done. I like the energy that is building around what I’m writing. It’s solid and practical. It is giving me a road map of what to do and when to do it. It’s helping me finalize my plan.

It’s also giving me a bunch of phone calls to make. I have to include a budget with this proposal. Pricing out what is needed and finding the best way to go is a good exercise in scoping out resources and making new contacts. It’s a simple little deal, really and a fun one. When I love what I’m working on it doesn’t seem at all like work.

Blessings!
Laura
