Influence

One thing that I’ve noticed is that the people who have had the most influence on me are the people who have not put me in a position where I am wrong. It’s a simple courtesy that has lasting effects. It’s not that the challenging personalities that have done battle with me haven’t also had their lasting impression, it’s just different.

The people who have approached me with a “someone is going to win and it won’t be you” attitude aren’t the people I gravitate to anymore. I don’t need to be right. I don’t know how to do that per say. I know that in any given situation on any given day I’m pretty unpredictable. That makes me interesting. You never know what will come next.

When people are able to let me be me I respect that more than anything. It shows me a level of maturity and responsibility that I need to have in myself. One of my friends told me that if she had been able to let people come and go in and out of her life things would have been a lot easier for her. That had a tremendous influence on me.
