Judgments

I was with some teenagers today. Teenagers fascinate me. They’re very quick in their assessment of things. They don’t always take into account that there may be additional information available that they could investigate which would give them a totally different point of view, but they can call a spade a spade with no fear.

One of them had the opinion that an adult he was dealing with was crazy. I let him know that the “adult” had just put his cat to sleep due to cancer and was very sad because the cat had been with him for 17 years. The teenager was 13. An entire change happened after the teenager heard the news and suddenly he was filled with compassion.

When someone is having a tough time being kind, patient, considerate or aware of their behavior it is usually for a reason. When I ask how someone is doing and I listen to the answer I get to be supportive and the other person gets to express what they need to so they can move on. It’s a simple little thing that can be helpful.

Blessings!
Laura
