Control

I’ve heard people say “God’s in charge.” When I have no clue about what I’m supposed to do with what has shown up in my life I like to say that, too. It’s comforting to believe that there is a greater intelligence handling things that I have no way to understand. “God’s in charge” means I’m not alone and I’m not supposed to have all the answers.

But then living the part where I’m not in charge is challenging. Now I have to stop my mind from trying to impose its rules and regulations around what I’m doing. If God is truly in charge than my “rules” aren’t in force. And the circumstance in my life is not for me to dictate. That means I have to give up control? But….wait a minute.

It’s not a total loss. Even if I’m not in control of things I can still make decisions. Oh, good. That’s a relief. My mind can still do something to be useful. I may not be writing the script of my life out in advance but I can make decisions in how I respond to the script as it plays out while I’m in it. Now that sounds interesting.
