Las Vegas Airport

I was in the Las Vegas airport during a lay over on my way to Tucson. I’ve only been in the airport in Vegas. I’m not a gambler. I’ve taken enough risks being an artist so I don’t get a thrill the way some people do when they gamble. Most of my life has been a gamble so I had to go beyond living on the edge. For me, if I have some extra money to blow, I’d rather go to a spa and get pampered.

What amuses me about the Vegas airport is that the only way a person can get to their gate at the terminal is to walk by banks of slot machines. I know because I walked past the slots and had to backtrack to get into the boarding area. After I sat down I noticed this short clip of music playing over and over and over and I just wanted the chord to change. Then I realized it was coming from a slot machine someone was playing.

I was hoping the person would win or something so I could hear a different sound. It wasn’t really meditative. I made a comment about it to a woman sitting next to me and we just laughed. Her husband likes to gamble and she doesn’t. He doesn’t understand the thrill she gets from shopping. He said being in Vegas with her was like being with a corpse. I told him it was good that they could accept their differences.

Blessings!
Laura
